the dangling carrot
cultivating your business vision
cultivating your business vision

Creative Carrot recently participated as a judge in Florida Atlantic University’s 2010 Business Plan Competition. Over 120 business plans created by students, faculty, and local businesses were submitted, screened & judged. This was a fantastic event – what better way for students to have their business visions judged for product viability, market research and analysis, and financials, etc.
I am hoping that the groups whose plans I judged, learned from my feedback. I coached them as we coach our clients – that a business plan is the key to running a business. A website is a business plan brought to life. If the plan is good (considers the viability of, competition, threats, price points, etc) – the chances of having an effective website are also good.
This experience was a great reminder that we need to review our business plan as it is a living document. A few clues that it is time to review your business plan are:

Broward Children's Center
On Saturday, November 14th from 8am-12pm the Broward Childrens’s Center held their annual Miles For Smiles walkathon to raise funds for infants, children, and young adults with special needs. Miles for Smiles provides a once a year opportunity to nuture and protect some of the most medically fragile and at-risk children in the nation by funding the highly specialized medical care Broward Children’s Center delivers.
Creative Carrot Studios was very happy to participate in this event which was an approximate 5 mile walkathon beginning at the Good Year Blimp hanger in Pompano Beach, Florida. Everyone was welcome, from bike riders to wheel chairs, and children & seniors to dogs. This is a great event and we look forward to next year’s walkathon and to assisting the Broward Children’s Center throughout the year. Sponsors included Bru’s room, Dandee Donuts, Goodyear, etc. For more information about the Broward Children’s Center www.bcckids.org.

CCS at the Chris Evert / Raymond James Celebrity Tennis Event
At Creative Carrot Studios (CCS), we believe strongly in being involved in the community. Each of us volunteers in our perspective home cities. I am a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) member, volunteer at the local elementary school and parks and recreation department, and assist with local “green events.” As a company, we provide free services one day per month to a local business in financial need.
November 6-8, CCS attended the Chris Evert / Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic charity event. While sitting in the beautiful Delray Beach Tennis Center, we thoroughly enjoyed watching pros Chris Evert, Martina Navratrilova, Monica Seles, Vince Spadea, and Lindsay Davenport, and celebrities Bud Collins, Stone Phillips, Jon Lovitz, Jason Gimelstob, Gavin Rossdale, Matt Lauer, Elizabeth Shue, and Jeffrey Donovan (from the locally filmed Burn Notice) play tennis. But, more importantly, we were able to help the Chris Evert charities to raise money for the Ounce of Prevention Fund and Drug Abuse Foundation of Palm Beach County to fight against drug abuse and child neglect in Florida.
In this difficult financial time, monetary donations may not be feasible. We encourage everyone to support their community in whatever way possible.
